WHAT WE LIKED MOST:
We purchased this printer for my wife's CPA office and she is thoroughly satisfied. The Brother software handles driver updates and corrects your computer to recognize the Brother printer, otherwise you might experience problems.
I have used this fax for the last two years with no problems in a high volume setting. The fax is the best I have ever had. It costs much less than purchasing from a commission salesman. My only complaint is that the number keys are very specific in where you have to hit them to get the number you want. It has been outstanding.
My last printer was another Brother printer that I purchased fifteen years ago. This is a wonderful replacement that lasted fifteen years. I have it on my wireless network and my wife and I can print from any of our devices. The computer takes almost no time to warm up, and it has a great scanner to computer feature to make it wonderfully easy to scan anything we need.
I really like Brother printers. The only downside is that you must use Brother Branded ink to maintain the high quality printing. It is very simple to set up and use, and prints quickly. I'm very satisfied with this product.
It is an excellent all in one printer. The setup was simple and the output quality is great.
WHAT WE LIKED MOST:
I was reluctant to purchase this printer after reading many reviews regarding the printer on Office Depot's website. I have had poor experiences with Epson and HP. Also, my Canon Pixma printer broke down after three years. I knew that Brother was a reliable brand but I never owned one of their printers before. It is happy that I decided to write. The setup was quick and simple and it took approximately 40 minutes. If you do not have a disk tray, Brother supplies videos on their website, as well as downloadable software. A lot of reviews complained that the printer was difficult or cumbersome to operate. I have not been able to experience this. Printing is very fast and easy. Faxing was also simple you can also log numbers into an internal address book for future convenience. Copying works without issues, and you can copy two sides contrary to what at least one reviewer claimed. I can inform you that fax is a dial up application that sounds loud upon a system startup. In general, there are two ways to change the volume. This printer is very good, with the toner cartridge located in the front. This means that for people with disabilities or for people who keep their printers in awkward locations, you do not have to worry about flipping the printer around once it is installed the only issue I am currently facing is scanning from the machine. This would mean having to load the scanner and then run back to the computer to click scan. I think that it would be avoidable if the printer could scan to the computer from its own interface. I have been playing with my firewall settings, but nothing has worked yet. I will talk to Brother's tech support to see what I could be doing wrong. Because this could be an issue for me personally, I am not willing to fault the device itself just yet.
Before I settled on this All in One Printer Scanner, I did a lot of searching through various Products and Reviews. I had the desire to use a dual side scanner with the option of scanning financial statements, documents and all other documents. This model has a second scanner to scan both sides at once, and it should be a good solution, compared to having to manually read the page and then do it again. It's faster to scan large doublesided documents this way. The ADF scanner function is surprising loud. It is not unreasonable, it is simply loud. If you are looking for photographs, the scanner settings leave a lot to be desired, but my primary use is for documents. It includes a document management software that includes a PDF reader that allows you to delete and insert pages, so you can re-scan a single bad page instead of rescanning an entire document if a page does not scan clearly the first time. That is a huge bonus that will save some usage on the scanner and help it last longer. As for printing, it wakes up fast and prints are clear, even with the ECO mode enabled. The cost of small toner is comparable to replacing the ink cartridges in an Ink Jet and provides an average of 1200 pages. I hope I do not have to come back and edit this review in order to review the durability, but in the short period of time I have had it, it seems better built than previous Ink Jets I have had, though Comparing an InkJet to a LaserJet is not a fair comparison.
I was able to print from both Android and iPhone, without installing any software or apps right out of the box. I just added power, paper, and the starter toner. I was not fond of the result of the mobile formatted image. When I print words and documents, the quality is there because the letters are crisp and precise. The unit does draw a lot of power hence the lights in my home office flickered after turning it on or initiating a print. I will update here if I have any problems, but I am doing it for the first time since my first impression. It is great for what we use it for. The update of 1 week contains many cool features that I did not expect. There are also a few cloud connected applications like Dropbox. When scanning documents, I can have then sent directly to email or phone. When scanning documents, they have built in OCR, aka they are scanned as words instead of just a document. A copying function will create an image of both ideas on one page. It required an additional setup which began by searching for the brother's dash replacement, followed the instructions on the brother's website, and completed successfully within ten minutes. After a week, the job is complete, yet I have not paired this printer with my office computer, therefore I recommend this printer as a standalone multifunction workstation with mobile connectivity.
I decided to switch my printers to Laser after years of buying ink jet printers each year or two. I would have saved myself many calls and trouble had I made this decision sooner. This is the typical install, even if you are not a techie. Connect it to your WiFi network, and the power cable will be the only cable. This is possible via the internet from your cellphone, tablet, and laptop. I do not keep paper anymore, because all bills are scanned to a PDF. I suggest you check to see how much room it has to be. The entire family loves it, especially the scan to email feature. Yes, you can scan a document and email it. You can set shortcuts in order to speed up your jobs. I created shortcuts for my mother and sisters that I can scan to PDF and email. We have two color inkjet printers and they are not used anymore. You have to turn them on. It has security built in. Get the larger toner for printing on a lot in your home office.
I was very hesitant to purchase this printer due to some of the reviews posted. The printer was priced at a reasonable price point and had the features I needed. I didn't care for my printing over the past year. I needed to move to a laser printer since I rarely need to print color. I need scanner and copy capabilities as well. I arrived earlier then I had anticipated. Then, I opened the box, connected it, and captured my WiFi, and off I went. There were no issues with the printer finding my Wi-Fi, but more importantly, staying connected. I have scanned a huge number of medical records and encountered no issues. I also copied a thing only to test the copy function. It worked great. I am disappointed to see that others had bad experiences with this printer, but a few hours in and so far, so good. I am hopeful that I will get good use from this printer. The price was right and the features were right. I am unable to speak with the Tech Support group because I have not had to employ that one. I hope I do not have to speak to Tech Support. If I decide to do it at some future time, I will update this review. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.
