Kohei Horikoshi was born on April 21st, 1992 in Tokyo, Japan. He has been writing manga since he was in elementary school. His first published work was a short story titled “A New Day” in 2009. Since then, his popularity has grown steadily, and he currently writes for various publications including Weekly Shonen Jump, Kodansha's Magazine Pocket, and Kodansha's Young Magazine.
Horikoshi came up with the idea for the series when he was in middle school. At the time, he had already decided what kind of character he wanted to create, but couldn't think of a good name for him. So he asked his friends to suggest names, and eventually settled on the name “Black Night Heroes Academy”.
Currently, the current arc of the series ends at Chapter 8. There are plans to continue the series into 2019.
