The scanner functions well. I really enjoy the game Dungeons and Dragons. This scanner allowed me to take old figurines and recreate their design with a few personal touches. The software is easy to locate and the scanner itself is very easy to setup and begin using with my Windows PC. The shape allows the scanner to fit perfectly next to my 3D printer. An object could take some time to scan, but the quality is worth the 10-15 minutes that it takes.

I really enjoy this scanner. I arrived at SO and was scanning quickly. The unit is simple to assemble. The software installed quickly and prompted me to do the simple steps needed to create a good scan. It would be inappropriate to place it inside the blackout tent that comes with the unit. I believe getting a good scan is more important. I am looking forward to scanning my original sculptures for 3D printing.

It is easy to set up and begin scanning. Everything worked great from the beginning. I did my first scan an hour after setting up, without special setup or calibration. I am only scanning the photographs. The editor software includes a simplify function that allows the scans to be loaded into Tinkercad without noticeable loss of detail. The printed model came from simplified model loaded into Tinkercad and then exported into Cura slicer. The Simplify function may also be used for scanning systems. The quality of the scan seems to be dependent on the optical qualities of the subject. Your template may differ. Some things are simply unscalable. The most excellent finishes are opaque plastic, cardboard, and mat finishes. I have not had many luck with bare metal or chrome. Although the scanner costs twice as much as my printer, I am still keeping it. It functions better than I had feared before ordering it and sometimes better than I dare hope. As well as being the perfect companion to my 3D printer, I am enjoying better luck using it than I do with photogrammetry.

I was excited to start working with my new SOL scanner and it did not disappoint. The quality and function is excellent at an affordable price. If you are looking for a high quality, economical scanner, then look no further than I have.

Great little scanner. If you process models, the model will be more simple. I recommend that you leave this off for a better quality. I suggest using a gaming computer or machine with a decent GPU for best performance. I have used handheld scanner mode, however, I am looking forward to learning more. I was contracted to reproduce a carved piece of crown moulding. I did not know how I would make it when I took on the job. The last option would be to handcarve. It was thirty feet long and I would have to carve it in weeks. I purchased the EinScan and used it for the first time. It was very easy to set up. The software is excellent. After scanning, I wrote a program for my CNC. It did a beautiful job, I only had to repair each piece. The project took only one week. I can't wait to try out my next project.

This scanner has faster scans and a higher resolution than what is reported. If you need an 05 resolution the SP will give you it since the SE is giving you an 09. It is wonderful that you can control the number of scans easily. The software is a bit buggy, but it is adequate for most jobs. If necessary, you can use Blender or Fusion 360 to refine the image. If your paint is bright white, reflective or clear, you may need to purchase yellow water color paint. Yellow is the preferred color for this type of scanning.

I was reluctant to purchase a box item, but I am glad I did. The unit was brand new and performed better than I expected. I was surprised how easy and good it works once I understood how to use it.

Our United States branch office purchased this scanner last year for their animation design project. Once the alignment has been configured, the tool can scan commercial crafts into the new 3D animation design. I find it to be effective for our needs. It is my recommendation that our United States office acquire another Einscan scanner.

It requires a lot of work. I obtained mine on Ebay because of the price. Once the tool is setup I have scanned large sections of motorcycle frames without problems. Use stickers or magnets as reference points on larger smooth objects. Aligning scans is much easier for it and for you. You can use athletes foot spray on shiny surfaces to make the surface a matt.
