FAQs
A picture frame measures 11 inches wide x 13 inches tall. These dimensions make it ideal for displaying pictures.
You can purchase an 11x13 frame at most department stores, craft stores, and online retailers.
Most 11x13 frames accept 4x6 prints. If your photo has a border around it, then you will want to trim off this extra space.
If you are cutting your own prints, then you will want to cut them slightly smaller than their actual size. If you are buying pre-cut prints, then you will want to ask the store where you bought them what size they recommend.
Matting paper should be placed right next to the glass. If you leave too much space between the glass and the matting paper, then you run the risk of scratching the glass.
Mats are available in various materials, including wood, acrylic, metal, and plastic. Wood mats tend to last longer than other types of mats.
Mounting your prints on the backside of the glass gives them maximum protection against scratches.
Tape comes in two forms: clear and matte. Clear tapes allow light to shine through, making your prints appear brighter. Matte tapes block out light, giving your prints a darker appearance.
Frames come in three sizes: 6x8, 8x10, and 9x11. Choose whichever size looks best for your photographs.
Thickness varies depending on how heavy the paper is. Thicker papers are better suited for heavier prints.
Matting paper should be mounted directly onto the front of the frame. Do not use double sided tape to attach your matting paper to the frame.
Frames come in all shapes and sizes. They can be round, square, rectangular, oval, or even triangular.
Paint your frame whatever color you like. There is no right or wrong answer here.
