1. To create your content, start with keywords and work backward

Keywords are the words and phrases your potential customers are using when they go to a search engine to find answers to their questions or providers to purchase products and services from.

Most business owners make mistakes by publishing content that isn't relevant to their customers. However, the main advantage of SEO marketing is that it doesn't require any guesswork.

All the information people need is at our disposal. We just have to create content to meet that demand.

Suppose you base your content strategy around starting with proper keyword research. This will ensure that all content you create is based on what people are searching for and that your ranking will be easier.

2. Backlinks can improve your site authority

While content is a good way to be found on search engines for keywords that your potential customers are looking for, backlinks can give you the authority and trust to rank higher in search engines.

If you want people to find your pages, they must be centered around the things they are searching for.

It is similar to how you must buy a lottery ticket to be eligible to win the lottery.

But, just because you are eligible does not guarantee you will be there.

Any Larry, Moe, or Curley could create content about a topic. Search engines don't want any dumbo with a keyboard as the destination for their users looking for information and advice.

Trust is also important. Websites with the greatest authority on a particular topic rank the highest.

Even if you've spent 30 years building your trust and reputation, and authority in real life, that doesn't automatically translate to the digital world. They must be built through authority in the real world.

The way you do this is by acquiring backlinks.

Trust and authority will grow for you if you have links to trusted and relevant websites.

Make sure you link to your content after it is published.

3. Reverse engineer your competitors

SEO is like playing poker against an opponent who holds his cards face-up.

All you need to win and beat your competition is right in front of you.

Google already knows which websites and web pages are most popular for specific keywords. You can simply search these keywords and find out who ranks highest.

Take a look at the keywords that are currently ranking well, then decide what you want to rank. Then, do a better job creating content than those who are currently in the top 10.

You now know that content alone does not suffice to rank. Backlinks are also important. Once you have written better content than your competitors', use an SEO tool to see where they get their backlinks.

If a competitor has linked to your content on their website, and you have created a better resource than them in some way, you can simply email the owner of the linking website to request a link. Send an email to the linking website owner and be polite!

4. Maximize your Google My Business profile (GMB).

Many Google business profiles are not being used to their full potential.

We have found that 9/10 business owners don't complete the profile.

This is a bit like a student who has half of their homework done. Do you think that the teacher will give them much attention or credit?

Nope. Google isn't either.

A properly optimized and filled-out Google business profile is essential for local SEO.

5. Speed up and improve your website performance

Websites that load slowly are not liked by anyone.

Slow websites can negatively impact your rankings and reduce conversions.

Even if your site is ranked at the top of page one, it won't generate any leads or sales if no one stays long enough to interact with your website.
