Autel EVO II Pro vs DJI Mavic 2 Pro: Which is better?
An 8K and 6K-capable drone from Autel Robotics created an impression at CES 2020 when it was announced. Thermal imaging was added to the EVO II Dual 640T, a novel RTK series, and the Dragonfish, a very proficient commercial drone that can fly for two hours.
There hasn't been much buzz about EVO II Pro since its release, but now I've had a chance to test it out against the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. You may be surprised by the outcomes.

The Autel Evo 2 comes with three interchangeable gimbal modules:
With the 586 gimbal, you can shoot 8K video at 25 frames per second, 6K at 30 frames per second, or 4K around 30 or 60 fps, all at bit rate up to 120 Mbps.
Gimbal 383 has an Ultra HD camera with its 1-inch sensor enabling 6K video and even images up from 20MP. In addition, it includes a configurable lens aperture range of f/2.8 to f/11, allowing it to record video at up to 5.5K or 4K at 120fps.
Provides a dual image infrared camera that shoots video in 720p at 30 fps and takes infrared photos of 640 x 512 and 320 x 256. Like the previous model, this one contains an 8K video camera as well.
It has an internal storage capacity of 8 GB and an external storage capacity of 256 GB via microSD card.
Switching out the camera is easy
One-of-a-kind among high-end drones. Buying one frame offers you the option to install any camera you choose in the future because the payload is detachable. Starting with the Evo 2, you may purchase the camera and place it on any 8K model, thereby turning it into a 6K version of the Evo 2.

The Autel Evo 2 records video in MOV or MP4 format and captures still images in DNG or JPG formats.
Using EVO 2, you may produce videos that have a natural look and feel to them, without seeming too saturated, with good dynamic range and a high pixel density.
The camera in the Mavic Pro is incredibly powerful, capturing 4K footage in crystal clear detail with a smoothness and stability that are nothing short of remarkable. Of course, we also tried out the new DJI Intelligent Controller in addition to the normal Mavic drone and folding remote control. It is our opinion that the DJI GO 4 software included in the controller and the brilliant display of the remote control provide substantial value. Only the additional 649 Euros cost of the DJI Smart controller serves as a disincentive to purchasing it.

Infrared PC Tool by Autel IR
Developed for the 640T, this free analysis application allows users to easily input photos, adjust and analyze temperature information, and generate complete reports for collaboration and sharing.
Monitors display screen temperature within real time and sets off an alarm if it becomes too high. When a predetermined temperature is reached, the system alerts the user.
Temperature ranges can be set to detect any objects that fall inside the defined temperature range.
Real-time brightness, contrast, and detail adjustments are all supported. Objects inside the specified temperature range will be highlighted.
Why is the EVO II Pro 6k drone more expensive than an 8k drone?
Both EVO II 8k and the EVO II Pro 6k feature Sony's top-of-the-line image sensors, however the EVO II Pro has a full 1" sensor as well as an aperture that can be adjusted from f/2.8 to f/11.. What is the follow me mode?
Follow me! Drones are able to stay a fixed distance from a topic while moving by using GPS and image processing to keep track of it.
If you're using a more modern quadcopter, you can even employ obstacle avoidance as somewhat of a safety function during the flight if you know what kind of item you are following.
Does Autel Evo follow me?
Autel is probably the biggest direct competitor of DJI, and they make amazing quadcopters that also come with sophisticated follow me and tracking options.
The Autel Evo uses what they call Dynamic Track technology to track subjects using a combination of sensors and AI to track everything from people to vehicles.
It also comes with sensors for obstacle avoidance and has 3 different modes to follow:
Follow mode - track and follow someone from a fixed distance
Tripod mode - this is the equivalent for orbit in other drones.
Parallel mode- same as with DJI, this follows you in a linear fashion, horizontally
How far can autel evo go?
Flight has entered a new era. EVO is a lightweight, foldable backpack that can go with you on your next excursion. Front-facing cameras on the EVO are capable of shooting 4k video at 60 frames per second and up to mbit / s in an H.264 or H.265 codec, respectively, on a 3-axis stabilized gimbal. Real-glass optics in EVO's 12 megapixel camera produce breathtaking images that are rich in detail and color thanks to a wide dynamic range. Forward obstruction avoidance, rear obstacle detection, and bottom sensors are all provided as part of the integrated advanced computer vision systems. EVO has a range about 4.3 miles and can fly for 30 minutes at a time (7KM). Whenever the battery is running low, EVO's failsafe mechanisms alert you to head back to your house.
